Ilford's Homeless - past and present!

In November 2018, the Ilford Recorder reported that there were 7100 homeless people in Ilford. An increase, they suggested, was up by 13.6% on the previous year. More disconcerting was the figure of 449 homeless people who had died the previous year and a figure that suggested 65 rough sleepers were present in the borough. While this was all going on British Asian Christian Association (click here) , a group I volunteer for was working towards beginning a 'Meals for the homeless project'.    That's me feeding the homeless at the Prince of Wales Pub Car Park Ilford is not the biggest or oldest town in London, but it must have been large enough to attract rough sleepers in the 1920's as  Eric Arthur Blair, more commonly known by his pen name George Orwell, mentioned our small town in his first ever publication 'Down and out in Paris and London'. Essex Youth Councillor pleads with UK authorities to do more to eradicate teen knife crime

Teens want a say on knife crime too!

We urge adults and teenagers in the UK to sign our petition calling for stronger knife-crime reforms  (click here) Support Hannah Chowdhry's teen non-alcoholic bar project by donating (here) . We know projects like this work as we have had success before:  (click here) ,  (here)  and  (here) Over 30 teenagers we polled on their concerns about knife crime and information form that was shared in a letter to the Government by myself.  All of those polled have suggested that teenagers are ignored when it comes to matters about knife-crime pertaining to them. To provide an opportunity for teenagers to have their say, the British Pakistani Christian Association, Ilford High Road Baptist Church, anti-knife UK, East Ilford Betterment Partnership, Al Bayan Welfare Centre and Mosque, Met Police, E-Gangs, 4TY and others have teamed up to hold a knife crime meeting on Saturday 30th March.   Adults are welcome too!
